Get your QR code poster

There are 2 ways to get your QR code posters, and you can use whichever way is easiest for you.

What you will need

Before you start, you will need your:

NZ Business Number (NZBN) or Business Industry Classification Code
address details for each of your locations
email address

You should only use the official NZ COVID-19 QR code poster issued by the Ministry of Health. This is so that visitors know that scanning the QR code links to NZ COVID Tracer app, and is for contact tracing purposes.

When you get your QR code poster

When you receive your QR code poster you should:

print the poster
display the poster somewhere visitors can see it and scan it when they arrive, for example next to the entrance
ask visitors to scan the QR code when they arrive, using the NZ COVID Tracer app
display as many posters as you need to, to avoid queues forming

Updating your poster details

You can reprint your QR code posters, update and manage the contact details registered to your poster and archive any posters you no longer need online.

We encourage you to check your contact details are up to date. This will help contact tracers to quickly notify you if someone who tests positive for COVID-19 has been to your premises, or if your business is identified as a location of interest.

Make sure your poster has the right contact information

When someone tests positive for COVID-19, contact tracers need to know where they have been while they were infectious.

If a person who tests positive for COVID-19 has visited your business, contact tracers need to get in touch with you and notify people who were there at the same time.

The faster that this can happen, the faster that contacts can isolate and get tested, and the more likely it is that we can stop the spread of COVID-19.

How scanning works

If a positive case scanned in using the NZ COVID Tracer app

If they scanned in, everything can go faster.

Contact tracers can use the contact details you included when you signed up for your QR code poster to get in touch with you quickly, and let you know what to do next.

If a positive case did not scan in

If the person who tested positive did not scan in, contact tracers use the location name on your poster to try and get in touch with you, and quickly alert anyone who scanned in at the time the case was there.

If it is hard to find the right location details, this takes longer – and sometimes we cannot find them at all.

If you have multiple posters at your business with different details, we might not notify everyone who scanned in.
